The Durance River of France measures up to a length of 33 euro0 km. A prominent water body in the south-eastern France, the river is the left tributary of Rhone. Rising from the south-western Alps, the river gets past through the ski resort of Montgenèvre close to Briançon. It finally concludes its journey as it falls into the river Rhone near to Avigon. The stunning river has two major tributaries as well, namely Bleone and Verdon.

Something for everyone! The Guisane is the most easily accessible river when heading out from road. It follows its path between south-facing mountain shaded north slopes of the valley. No austere gorges or feisty torrents here, just a charming small Alpine river which is a delight to explore and perfect for a refreshing dip in its mountain waters. It should not be forgotten, however, that despite this calm and sober appearance, the Guisane is still an Alpine river, and that its gradient and speed on the last section as you approach Briançon can still spring a surprise or two.
